So these people on Facebook keep arguing about gun control and this guy said that people don’t need to own assault rifles because they’re big and not meant for public use and all that jazz.

And another guy replies with “well why do we make cars that go over 80 mph and alcohol that’s over the legal proof? Those combined kill more kids than guns do.”

And I just really wanted to say “well, cars and alcohol weren’t designed to specifically kill people. But do you know what is? Guns.”

Because I don’t really give a shit what you use guns for. You can have it to defend yourself, use it for sport, whatever. But you can’t possibly argue with me that the original purpose of guns wasnt to kill. And it still is, for those who defend using guns for self defense.

Responsible people should be able to own guns, but I really think we need to start cracking down more on safety. Background checks should be used (yes, I know privacy is an issue but if you don’t have anything to hide, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Sex offenders are required to have it publicly known that they’re offenders. Dangerous individuals with mental health issues that conflict with them having ownership of a gun should at least be made to known to sellers of guns. Not the whole public, because its a medical issue. At least it would make it a little more difficult to get guns legally.)

I’m not sure what else there is to say now, but for everyone bitching that Obama is going to “take away the second amendment”, he’s not. He’s not going to magically take away all the guns. He’s trying to make the country safer.

And no, I don’t consider having more guns in this country as safer, if you don’t believe in gun control.

We don’t live in the wild west. You’re not going to be challenged to a duel or a shootout. Not every single person needs/wants a gun to defend themselves.

I’m done now…
